How to add volume to naturally straight hair?

The only time it looks slightly puffier is straight after I get up!!

What are some good ways to add volume to it without spending a lot of money on hair products? How to add volume to naturally straight hair?
You could tease it, get more layers in it, use styling products, or use a round brush on it while you blow dry it to try and style it to make it look more volumized. How to add volume to naturally straight hair?
Straight hair, usually straight hair + equal lenght is difficult to add volume. If you want to add volume, you should layer or curl your hair slightly and then use WAX to add the VOLUME =)

I have naturally straight hair too and I wanted puffy volumous hair but it's really hard to get it just by using simple hair products.

Even though using hair products rather than getting a perm or a haircut is cheaper, in the long run it will be better and you'll have better results.

I didn't layer my hair, but i got a light perm and then i put wax , inside and out (not on the top layer of your hair) and scrunch your hair a bit too and then it gets volumous!!! yay!

hope this helped a little bit at leastt!!
Without really seeing your hair, it is hard to say what YOU need. But here are some general ideas.

A lot will depend on your hair cut. Cutting is only making hairs shorter, but by placing some short hairs in the right place, you can cause the hair to have some lift. It only stands to reason that long hair is heavy and it pulls it down flatter on top. So you need to make some of the top hairs shorter so it isn't as heavy and will have some natural lift. Having a good haircut by a skilled cutter is most important. If you have long hair (past the shoulders), you shouldn't expect it to have a lot of fullness.

As you suggested, straight hair does not have a lot of fullness. Again, it stands to reason. When the hairs can lie very close to each other, you get a very compacted appearance, or flat hair. Straightening irons are made to make the hair very straight and flat. You don't use them to get fullness. When you can cause the hairs to stand away from each other, then you get the illusion of fullness. You can do this by having a bit of curl in the hair, so that they don't lie close to each other. Try setting your hair in larger rollers, wet or hot, and see if that helps.

You also need to be sure your hair is very clean. That causes a bit of static electricity so that the hair is not stuck close to each other... by having a bit of static, it will stand away from each other. Having too much static is not good either! When the hair gets ';dirty'; with grease, or hair spray, or just dust in the air, you have less static; that's why it goes flat a few days after a shampoo. You don't get static in a humid atmosphere.

Styling aids will help. They cause the hair to hold a shape longer.. a bit of bend is necessary as explained above. Some of them create a bit of static electricity too.

Of course, there are some styling techniques that can be helpful. As I said, curling the hair is a start. You can also add more fullness by backcombing the hair near the scalp (matting it in effect) so that it can't lie down flat to the head. You can pull some hair upwards, and pinning in place, creating an illusion of longer lines. You can also add in extra ';lifters'; such as the bumpit,or rats, or even a hair piece. Of course, having lots of hair helps. If you are lacking enough hair, using extensions is another way to add more hair. Lighter colours tend to look ';lighter'; and darker colours tend to look heavier.

In the end, you are going to have to try a few things, and see what works for you, or what you can do easily. You should also have a consultation with a qualified hairstylist who has the experience to give you some suggestions to make your hair fuller. They will see what you have to work with, and can give you some tips that work just for you.
Lift some hair up in chunks get some hair spray (any kind) and spray from underneath. I've never done it because my hair is a big poof ball but it works with people I know. Only cost is hair spray which isn't much money at all.
get it layered then back-comb it. works for me,and i think it looks great! you may have to buy a hairspray though, unless your hair holds with out one. i can do both, but i prefer to use hairspray.
blow dry with a round roller brush from the root up.also use volumizing shampoo and conditioner before
A wig

Or stick your fingers into an electrical socket (not recommended)
tease it :] (run a comb through it upwards)

it works really well.
get layers, then tease it.

hope i helped :)
