What are some tips for keeping long, straight hair curled for an entire day?

I am getting married in July, and I am desperate to find a product (gel, spray, mousse, etc.) and a curling iron or hot rollers that will actually make my hair hold the curl for the rest of the day.

I have tried both hot rollers and a curling iron and then sprayed the curls with hair spray, but it never holds like I wish it would.

Any suggestions??

Thanks! What are some tips for keeping long, straight hair curled for an entire day?
Make sure you are setting your hair wet and using a setting lotion after shampooing. Setting lotion gets the hair a bit firm like hair spray and keeps the curls. (dont use too much or your hair can break) Or you may want to use rods in which you would wrap your hair around, rods usually role the hair more tightly than standard rollers. Setting lotion right before you role is key though and staying under the dryer until your hair is throughly dry. What are some tips for keeping long, straight hair curled for an entire day?
The best way is to set your hair while it is wet with the old fashioned rollers and a gel. It's a pain to be sure, but it will last. In the ';old days'; a woman would get her hair wet set once a week and it would hold for (almost) the next 7 days. I don't know how much curl you want, but the smaller the roller the tighter the curl.

As for the type of product to use, you need to find a gel that will resist humidity. I think the bed head products are great for this. There is a gel in a can that works wonders. Good luck and Congratulations on your wedding!
I would suggest you find a hair stylist for your wedding that knows how to do shirley temple curls. Have you're hair dresser do a test on your hair to see if you'll like it. If you're hair dresser doesn't know how to do it, I suggest you find a Spanish Hair Dresser who will definitely be able to do it.

If you are trying to save yourself money by doing it yourself. I suggest you buy Tressemme Curling Mouse. Buy any curling gel, there's a good one by Garnier. And any hair spray. You can do the curling iron thing, but chances are they won't hold out if you are doing it yourself.
I feel your pain... i can't even keep a barrette in mine. I can't think of any thing that would make mine do what it was supposed to involving a curl... but usually when i get it done professionally it has a little more staying power. After the ceremony get those flat clips that snap up the metal ones and roll each curl back up and clip it until you get to where your pics are and let them out. Then roll them back up before the reception and again let them down. By the time they are totally out it will be the end of the night and noone will care. I find that pinning them back up in a spiral does keep them longer - its work but ya gotta do what you gotta do
when using the iron, be sure to apply a light spray to the root and blow a low heat to it. it will give your hair lift. then apply a medium hold spray while the hair is on the iron. i know it seems like a lot of work but it works.
